Merqurio's infrastructure is run by two people. One of them is leaving the company, and we are looking for someone to take their place.
Merqurio is an innovative and growing company, specialised in pharmaceutical marketing and scientific communication solutions in the healthcare sector, offering scientific information, medical database management and field research services.
Servers, networking, virtualisation, backup, workstations: you start from support and grow into a real systems administrator.
Part of the role, right from the start, is supporting internal users: the driver that will not install, the microphone nobody can hear on a call, the update to schedule, the VM to reset, the ticket to close. It is the work that keeps 150 people going, and it deserves to be done well.
It is not, however, a full-time activity: we manage workstations centrally with NinjaOne, so there are busy days, but on average support takes about an hour a day.
The rest of your time you work on systems, alongside someone who has been doing this for twenty years: Fortinet firewalls, VMware, backup with Veeam, Active Directory, and the Kubernetes project we are working on right now. You do not need to know these already: you need to want to learn them. The time to do so is built into the working day, not stolen from your evenings.
The work is remote, with one day a week at our Naples offices: we are therefore looking for someone who can reach them without difficulty.
We are not asking for an expert: we are asking that you can already find your way around Windows and Linux, that you have an idea of how a network works (IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN), that drivers and managing a PC are no mystery, and that Active Directory means something to you.
This is the requirement that weighs most. Faced with a problem you have never seen, we want your reaction to be opening the documentation and working it out, not waiting for someone to tell you what to do.
People asking for support are often struggling and in a hurry: half the job is technical, half is making them feel they are in good hands.
Backups, updates and access rights only work if someone follows them methodically. We work with sensitive data and attention to detail makes the difference.
A degree is not required. What counts is a technical institute, certifications, hands-on experience or the lab you have built at home. If you have already worked in support or at an MSP, all the better: you know what to expect.
